What lovely weather we had for Inis Mór, a little windy, but certainly a preferaleble substitute for rain. Getting on a ferry is always a good start to a camp and travelling from Doolin out was a great way to go. The food was good, everybody helped out and despite not being used for over two years the tents were still in working order. Some brave Scouts swam, some adventurous and lucky scouts fished and caught a pollock which was gutted, filleted and duly cooked and eaten. Phones were discarded and everyone lived in the moment! Our billed 14km hike, turned into nearly 18km to and from Dun Aonghasa, and everyone survived, partially revived by an Ice Cream half way.
The Campfire on Friday night was run by the Scouts themselves and they are well on the way to holding the side up at any Campfire the Germans plan when we go on our Summer camp. A big thank you to the Scouters, Margaret, John, Kieran and Ronan, who worked hard at planning and running the camp together. Also, a big thank you to the Scouts who willingly helped and partook in all the activities we planned and some that weren’t planned at all!
